The Writer's Roadmap
1:1 Mentoring for Writers
Gain Clarity, Momentum, Guidance, and Support
The Writer's Roadmap sessions offer a focused framework for uncovering your writing path and taking your work to the next level.
Within a container of dedicated time, insightful feedback, and experienced guidance, strengthen your work and gain clarity about what comes next.
Maybe you have a project underway, a collection of essays, a presentation to craft, or years of accumulated notes, drafts, and ideas that need structure and direction.
Wherever you are in the process, we can access the shape of what you have, recognize the strongest threads, and create a realistic path for the next phase of the work.
If you're stalled on a project or uncertain where to go next, 1:1 mentoring provides a level of targeted support that isn't possible in a group program. Everything is focused on where you are now and where you want to go. You'll also have the flexibility to work together in a way that fits your schedule.
In every creative and professional endeavor, there comes a time when an outside perspective can help you see the larger landscape, recognize patterns and possibilities, and identify the clearest path forward.
As your writing mentor, I will bring my decades of experience mentoring writers, facilitating workshops, and training professionals in the craft of story, along with a deep understanding of the creative process and what helps both writers and their work thrive.
What will you gain?
Each writer comes with different needs and work in different stages of development. Our goal will be to define your route, identify meaningful measures of progress, and create a plan that fits the realities of your life and writing practice.
Sometimes this work can be exactly what you needed to bring your writing into the homestretch of completion. Other times it can be more about process than product, and help open the door for what is to come next.

How a Session Unfolds
1. The Kickoff
Some writers arrive with a clear project. Others need help assessing existing material and choosing the strongest direction. We’ll begin with a kickoff call about your project. We’ll talk about where you are in the process, and what kind of support would be most useful. This conversation helps us find the best way to move your work forward.
2. Assessing the Writing Landscape
You’ll bring what you want to work on in whatever stage you are at: drafts, notes, essays, fragments, research, or project ideas. Together, we look at the full landscape of the work — what feels strong, what feels unfinished, where momentum has stalled, and what larger arc may be emerging. I’ll listen for structure, coherence, narrative integrity, and the deeper themes shaping the work.
3. Designing Your Support Structure
We’ll also look at your writing process so far, define what kind of support you need, what gets in the way, and what kind of accountability and structure will best support you in carrying the work forward.
4. Creating a Realistic Roadmap
You’ll leave with a concrete plan for the next phase of your work. This may include writing priorities, milestones, revision goals, accountability rhythm, and strategic next steps.
“Through our VIP Session and the Roadmap, I have been able to take years of writing and shape it into a cohesive collection. Since starting with her, I have shared my work at literary festivals and been in several publications. Without her, I would still be circling. The clarity and momentum from our time together shifted everything.” — Julia Clebsch, Retired NPS Ranger, Writer, Naturalist

“I have extensive experience writing academic articles and chapters, but very little opportunity for creative writing. I have not written this much—or this easily—in over 30 years.”

FAQ’s
Is the Writer's Roadmap only for advanced writers?
Not at all. The Writer's Roadmap is designed to help you take your writing to the next level, wherever you are starting from.
Some people come with a manuscript to polish, while others arrive with essays, notes, stories, or ideas they want to organize, structure, and bring into completed form.
Do I need to be a particular kind of writer to benefit?
No. I work with writers, educators, interpreters, academics, and professionals who bring a wide range of experience and writing backgrounds.
My role is not to teach Writing 101. It is to help you identify the strongest stories, themes, and possibilities within your work, strengthen what is already there, and create a clear path for moving it forward.
What if I have years of notes, drafts, and ideas that I want to bring into form?
That's exactly what the Writer's Roadmap is for.
If you've been struggling to pull your writing together, this can be a powerful use of your time. Together we'll assess the landscape of your material, identify the strongest threads, and create a structure that helps the work move forward.
What kind of time commitment do I need?
The Writer's Roadmap is customized to suit your life, your project, and what is already on your plate.
The VIP Intensive gives your work one focused day of dedicated attention. Monthly Mentoring is designed to meet your scheduling needs, with time between sessions to write, revise, organize, or move the work forward at a sustainable pace.
Is this different from the 1:1 Creative Foundations?
Creative Foundations focuses on uncovering the stories, themes, ideas, and questions that want attention. It helps you discover what matters and what may be emerging.
The Writer's Roadmap focuses on developing that material into writing, presentations, manuscripts, projects, and finished work. The emphasis is on structure, direction, momentum, and moving toward completion.
What will we actually do during a Roadmap Session?
Together we'll look at the full landscape of your work, whether that's a manuscript, collection of essays, presentation, research, notes, or project in progress.
We'll identify the strongest threads, clarify structure and direction, assess what the work needs next, and create a realistic plan for moving it forward.
