Find your Writing Path | August 2020

"Life is a journey, not a destination."
Ralph Waldo Emerson

What happens in my sense of place writing classes?

Here’s the main result I've seen happen with participants in my writing classes over the past several months: They have found their writing path.

They have seen how it really is about the journey, the practice of writing, and self-discovery along the way.

They've been supported by the content and framework, and by the updraft of the group sparking ideas.

“I think the power of this is that I’ve thought of writing, but I’ve always kept the idea inside my head. It’s putting it down on paper that’s truly awesome. Because of this class I’ve felt and noticed so much more.”

They have seen how they can write about wherever they are.

"You’ve given me a whole new way of thinking about place. Living in a place where I really don’t feel connected, this process has really helped me come to terms with it, and how that’s okay. I can write about that."

They've gained a sense of focus, often going from solely writing for personal self-expression towards the feeling they have a voice, a direction and a project they want to polish and hone.

And it’s unfolded in a natural way.

"The method of writing small pieces that could evolve into a longer bit - an essay, or influence the chapter of a book, was very effective for me. Through this class, I developed an attitude toward writing that helped me get from idea to fully formed writings. The class is developmental without judgment, but instead is positive and encouraging to pursue a direction, focus, or even multiple foci."

"What I learned is a " sense of place" can be physical, internal, historical, sensory, past, and present. Place is very personal."

The class provides a comprehensive experience, with powerful workbooks, teachings, resources, discussion, and an in-class generative writing process with outstanding group support, plus some private mentoring.

It gives you the foundation to build your writings, the net to catch your stories, and the support to help them grow.

And I’m so I'm thrilled to share a framework that has helped all kinds of writers, with all levels of experience.
